SMT

The SMT and Super Tech Series from Spring Ink are low-cost, low-strength, and low-gloss offset printing inks designed primarily for older generation, slow-speed presses. Serving as an economical solution with good setting characteristics, they are ideal for textbook printing on offset paper and 2/3 number coated or non-coated board. Because they are not recommended for direct application on premium stocks, printing on other coated materials, art paper, or bleach board must be approached with care and requires the addition of Spring Ink’s RRH compound to prevent first impression set-off.

Cost-Effective Reliability with SMT and Super Tech Series

The SMT and Super Tech Series by Spring Ink are specifically engineered as budget-friendly solutions tailored for older generation, slow-speed printing machines. Characterized as low-cost and low-strength ink formulations, these series deliver a low-gloss finish while focusing on stable, practical performance. They function as a highly economical choice for specific entry-level applications, providing good setting characteristics that ensure reliable operation on the press. This makes them a practical fit for 2/3 number coated and non-coated board, as well as textbook printing on standard offset paper.

Due to the economical nature of these formulations, printing on other high-grade substrates requires careful consideration. For all other coated materials, art paper, art board, and bleach card, these inks must be used with care. It is strongly recommended to mix in Spring Ink’s RRH compound when handling these premium stocks to effectively prevent first impression set-off. Operators should note that the SMT and Super Tech series are explicitly not recommended for direct application on coated or bleach board without the appropriate additives.
